How do I dispute information on my credit report that was reported by TD Bank to the credit bureaus?
Step One
For Mortgages or Home Equity Loans:
Mail a written statement with copies of your supporting documentation to the appropriate address for the product you are disputing.
If you think there’s an error, would like to send a request for information, or have a credit bureau dispute related to your mortgage or home equity loan, please write us as soon as possible.
In your letter, be sure to include:
- Your name, property address, and account number or other identifying information
- Description of error or information you are requesting
- Why you believe there is an error
- Any additional information you think will help us
For Lines of Credit, Credit Cards, Personal Loans, Auto Loans or Deposit Accounts:
In a written statement, please provide the following information:
- Identifying information such as your name, address and telephone number, account number or the last four digits of your Social Security number – This is not required, but will help to process your dispute.
- The type of TD Bank product associated with the information being disputed (e.g., home equity line of credit, credit card, personal loan, auto loan, or deposit account)
- The account number(s) for the account(s) you are disputing
- A description of the specific information you are disputing and an explanation of the basis for your dispute
- Copies of documents that support your dispute, as applicable:
- A copy of your consumer report showing the information that you are disputing
- Your account statements
- A court order, or (if applicable) a copy of a police report or fraud or identity theft affidavit
- Copies of receipts showing account has been paid
- Copies of cancelled checks showing account has been paid
- Remember: Do not send original documents.

What happens after I mail my written statement and supporting documents to dispute information on my credit report?
We will respond to credit bureau disputes within 30 calendar days of receipt of your dispute.
We will notify you of the results of our investigation within 30 calendar days of receiving your dispute. We may take up to 45 calendar days to investigate your dispute if, after providing us with your initial notice of dispute, you provide us with additional information that is relevant to our investigation, or we need additional time to complete our investigation. If our investigation finds that the information you are disputing was inaccurate, we will notify the consumer reporting agency of our determination and provide the consumer reporting agency with the information necessary to request an update to your tradeline.
What if I have multiple disputes on different TD Bank products?
Complete a written statement for each product. For your convenience, we've created an optional Consumer Report Dispute Form that you may use as your written statement. Then mail your written statement and all copies of your supporting documentation to the appropriate address for that product.
What do i do if I disagree with the decision about my dispute?
Your resubmitted dispute will be considered new and will go through the same procedure as your original dispute.
